Very few people know exactly what they want to do for the rest of their life. Often, we simply pigeonhole ourselves into what we believe we are good at. For some, this could be engineering or medicine, while for others it could be something like computer science. The reality is, that many of these individuals have failed to explore all possible options, out of a fear of “analysis paralysis,” otherwise known as doing nothing because of the sheer amount of choices.
Like many things in life, there will be that moment for all of us, where the other choices and opportunities fade away, and there is one thing staring straight back at us. The one thing that will help define who we are. The one thing that will fulfill us. The struggle is not finding what you want to do for the rest of your life, but rather exposing yourself to the stimulus that will trigger it. This challenge, though difficult, seems more attainable in the world that we live in. We all have time to develop our method for finding that stimulus, the one thing that will make us go, “this is it.”
Some of you may have already found your “stimulus,” or “one thing.” Congratulations. I and many others are still following on our differing paths, in the search for our version of your prize. To the masses alongside me, I wish you all good luck. Remember to stay vigilant in your search, active in your thoughts, and adventurous in this world.
